Population and housing: A two-sided relationship
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper I explore the relationship between population and housing. I argue that this relationship is two-sided. On the one hand, the size of a population, and particularly the number of households, determines the demand for housing. On the other hand, the availability of suitable and affordable housing may attract certain categories of migrants. It also influences young people’s opportunities to leave the parental home, marry or cohabit, and have children. Furthermore, home-ownership hampers residential mobility and migration by binding people to a place. 1 University of Amsterdam, Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies, Nieuwe Prinsengracht 130, 1018 VZ Amsterdam, Netherlands. Two-Sided Tolerance Interval for Exponential Distribution Based on Records
Tolerance interval is a random interval that contains a proportion of the population with a determined confidence level and is applied in many application fields such as reliability and quality control. In this paper, based on record data, we obtain a two-sided tolerance interval for the exponential population. An example of real record data is presented. Finally, we discuss the accuracy of ...
متن کاملConfidence Intervals for the Power of Two-Sided Student’s t-test
For the power of two-sided hypothesis testing about the mean of a normal population, we derive a 100(1 − alpha)% confidence interval. Then by using a numerical method we will find a shortest confidence interval and consider some special cases.
متن کاملA two-sided Bernoulli-based CUSUM control chart with autocorrelated observations
Usually, in monitoring a proportion p < /em>, the binary observations are considered independent; however, in many real cases, there is a continuous stream of autocorrelated binary observations in which a two-state Markov chain model is applied with first-order dependence. On the other hand, the Bernoulli CUSUM control chart which is not robust to autocorrelation can be applied two-sided co...
